UPON A WAND is a playful new body of work by Skully Gustafson. Each painting begins with a simple desire—to paint, to hold a feeling still. Decisions unfold through color, synchronicity, and instinct—her favorite game to play. Suddenly, something reveals itself, only to recede into the background. The shapes come alive.The paintings don’t need to be understood, but they are speaking. The titles offer clues. What do you see in Poofta’s eyes? What do the colors do? The creatures—who are they?
